About Us

Update from the Board of Trustees of the Free Public Library of Berkeley Heights:

Substantial March weather events have delayed the opening of the Berkeley Heights Public Library at 110 Roosevelt Avenue, however we expect to open by the end of April!

While the Library ultimately will be housed in the new Municipal Complex, we anticipate that the Library will be at the 110 Roosevelt Avenue location for a significant length of time. Necessary construction to make this location suitable and safe for our patrons has been ongoing. We thank the public for their patience during this prolonged transition.

During our transition, Library services are still available:

  • Multiple on-line resources are available through the Library’s website www.bhplnj.org
  • Books and DVDs may be reserved through the online catalog. As the Library is under construction, please call (908) 464-9333 on weekdays between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm before you pick up your holds. Staff will meet you at the door - please do not enter the Library.
  • Interlibrary loans are also available for pick up at the BHPL. Call the BHPL during the hours above to take advantage of this service.
  • Although late fines are waived during this transition, New Providence Library is accepting returns of BHPL items.
  • Reciprocal borrowing services are available with our neighboring libraries.

We sincerely appreciate the public’s support as we continue to work to provide exceptional services for the residents of Berkeley Heights. Regular updates have been and will continue to be posted to the Library’s website and Facebook page.

If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Director, Stephanie Bakos at (908) 464-9333. Thank you!
